For over 40 years, we’ve led the biotechnology industry, using human genetic data and advanced technologies to discover, develop, manufacture, and deliver innovative medicines that help millions of patients worldwide.

About the Role

As an Associate, Patient Data Management, you will be part of Amgen’s global Patient Data Management team, supporting the collection, processing, and management of patient-level data that enables insights into the patient journey.

You will assist in maintaining the accuracy, quality, and compliance of Amgen’s patient data assets—such as data from Patient Support Programs (PSPs) and Specialty Pharmacies (SPs)—and help ensure smooth data operations that power analytics and reporting across Amgen’s commercial and patient access functions.

This is a great opportunity for early-career professionals interested in pharma data management, data operations, and data governance, offering exposure to global teams, complex datasets, and cutting-edge data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support Patient Data Operations

  • Assist in gathering and documenting requirements for onboarding new PSP and SP data sources
  • Support the setup, validation, and processing of incoming patient data feeds under supervision
  • Perform routine data quality checks, validation, and reconciliation to ensure completeness and accuracy of data
  • Help identify and escalate data anomalies or process issues to senior team members for resolution
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to track data delivery timelines and maintain issue logs
  • Maintain documentation for data processes, checks, and issue management

2. Ensure Compliance and Data Governance

  • Follow Amgen’s privacy, security, and compliance guidelines for handling patient-level data
  • Support data access and approval workflows by maintaining logs and ensuring accurate recordkeeping
  • Assist in implementing data governance processes to ensure traceability and secure access to sensitive datasets
  • Contribute to internal reviews or audits by providing required data documentation

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Learning

  • Collaborate with Patient Data Management, Technology, and Patient Access teams to support ongoing data operations
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and training on Amgen’s data systems and governance practices
  • Contribute to process improvement by sharing observations and suggesting small enhancements to workflow efficiency
  • Learn and apply foundational data management concepts, tools, and technologies to grow into a more independent contributor

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1–2 years of relevant pharmaceutical or data management experience
  • Basic understanding of data processes, life sciences data, or commercial operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with eagerness to learn and grow in a global, cross-functional environment

Functional Skills

Must-Have

  • Exposure to pharmaceutical data such as Patient Support Programs, Specialty Pharmacy, or commercial datasets
  • Foundational knowledge of data management concepts (data validation, governance, lineage)
  • Basic familiarity with SQL, Python, or data analysis tools
  • Understanding of or exposure to cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to follow structured processes and meet deadlines

Good-to-Have

  • Awareness of data privacy and compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
  • Exposure to working with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Familiarity with Agile or Product Team ways of working
  • Experience in multinational or cross-time-zone collaboration (academic or professional)

Soft Skills

  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and willing to learn from guidance and feedback
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, global team environment
  • Analytical mindset with curiosity for data and process improvement
