What you'll do

What you bring
- At least three years in data engineering, with substantial hands-on work in Snowflake and dbt
- A degree in computer science, data science, or a related area
- Advanced SQL and dbt skills, including data models, Jinja macros, testing, and DAG setup
- Practical Snowflake knowledge covering warehouse tuning, ingestion, security controls, and database administration

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our Snowflake and dbt-based data pipelines. You will be responsible for implementing robust ELT solutions that efficiently transform data and provide valuable insights to the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance ELT data pipelines using Snowflake and dbt
- Model data at both conceptual and technical levels based on business requirements
- Optimize SQL queries and dbt models to ensure optimal performance
- Implement and maintain DataOps infrastructure for deployment automation
- Configure and manage data security (RBAC, Row-Level Security, Dynamic Data Masking)
- Ensure efficient data ingestion from AWS S3 to Snowflake
- Orchestrate data flows through dbt and create DAGs with proper tag management
- Implement data quality testing via dbt tests
- Manage administrative aspects of Snowflake databases
Required Technical Skills
- Snowflake:
- Mastery of advanced Snowflake features (Time Travel, Zero-Copy Cloning)
- Configuration and optimization of Snowflake warehouses
- Management of external stages and Snowpipe for ingestion from AWS S3
- Configuration and implementation of RBAC, RLS, and Dynamic Data Masking security mechanisms
- Snowflake database administration (object creation/management, monitoring, optimization)
- dbt (data build tool):
- Advanced SQL model development in dbt
- Creation and optimization of data models (dimensions, facts, etc.)
- Use of Jinja macros to create dynamic and reusable SQL code
- Configuration of dbt tests for data validation
- Implementation of dbt snapshots for change tracking
- Creation of optimized DAGs with proper tag and dependency management
- Data model documentation
- DataOps & Automation:
- Use of schemachange for schema migration automation
- Continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) for data pipelines
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
- AWS & Integration:
- Knowledge of AWS S3 and its integration with Snowflake
- Configuration of external stages and ingestion processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Snowflake Tasks and Dynamic Tables
- Knowledge of data mesh and data governance principles
- Familiarity with data testing frameworks
- Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
Certifications (Preferred)
- SnowPro Core Certification - highly valued
- dbt Analytics Engineering Certification - a plus
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Data Engineer, or similar) - a plus

Experience and Education
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data engineering
- Significant experience with Snowflake and dbt
