Role brief

dataroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Maintain Looker and uphold company-wide rules for the use of core data tools
  • Automate manual data work with LLMs, workflow platforms and API or MCP connections
  • Help monitor GCP consumption and spending, then shape controls for cloud resources
  • Advance conversational analytics and self-serve support so staff can resolve data questions through an agent
  • Assign work to three interns, give feedback and coach them as their responsibilities grow

What you bring

  • Two to three years in analytics engineering, BI, data analysis, data engineering or a comparable technical discipline
  • You can independently write, debug and improve analytical SQL queries
  • You use Python for analysis and automation, and have hands-on Git or GitHub experience in collaborative development
  • You have used LLMs or automation tools such as n8n, Make or APIs to streamline processes
  • You communicate technical subjects clearly in English with technical and non-technical audiences

Who this fits

This mid-level role suits someone ready to own defined technical work and build toward independent project delivery. You’ll collaborate with senior data engineers and stakeholders across business areas, while guiding interns. The role is based in Barcelona and offers two work-from-home days each week, plus the option to work remotely from another location for up to three weeks annually.

From the employer

Glovo is part of the Delivery Hero Group, the world’s pioneering local delivery platform, our mission is to deliver an amazing experience—fast, easy, and to your door. We operate in around 65 countries worldwide. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany. Delivery Hero has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2017 and is part of the MDAX stock market index.

YOUR MISSION

You will join Data Platform Enablement, the central team responsible for maintaining and governing Glovo's data tools, defining data governance standards and automating the processes that keep our data ecosystem trustworthy and efficient.

This is a role for someone technical, ambitious and independent who wants to grow by taking on increasingly complex governance, automation and support work, while getting real experience delegating to and mentoring junior team members.

THE JOURNEY

  • Help maintain and govern Glovo's core data tools, including Looker, defining and enforcing governance standards across the company.

  • Automate manual data processes by leveraging LLMs, workflow tools like n8n and Make, and API/MCP connections.

  • Contribute to monitoring GCP infrastructure usage and costs, and help define governance around cloud resources.

  • Support the evolution of Looker towards conversational analytics, making data more accessible to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Help build and improve the Data Support self-serve experience, enabling people across Glovo to resolve support questions by talking to an agent instead of opening a ticket.

  • Proactively identify and propose improvements to how data is consumed and supported across the company.

  • Work with and delegate tasks to the team's 3 interns, distributing work, giving feedback and mentoring them as they take on more complex responsibilities.

  • Partner closely with senior Data Engineers on the team and with stakeholders across all business areas at Glovo, gaining broad exposure to different profiles and ways of working.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE

  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Analytics, BI, Data Engineering or a similar technical data role.

  • Strong SQL foundations, with the ability to independently write, debug and optimise analytical queries.

  • Working proficiency in Python to support data analysis, automation and workflow improvements.

  • Hands-on experience with Git/GitHub and collaborative engineering practices (pull requests, code reviews, version control).

  • Practical experience leveraging LLMs and/or automation tools (n8n, Make, APIs) to streamline processes.

  • An ambitious and independent mindset, comfortable owning well-scoped tasks, while still developing towards fully independent end-to-end project ownership.

  • English proficiency: Good communication in English, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform, infrastructure/cost monitoring or governance.

  • Exposure to Looker or other modern BI tools; interest in conversational analytics.

  • Interest in mentoring, delegating or project management, as a possible path towards people leadership.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In your first months, success will mean:

  • You understand the main data assets, tools and workflows used by the team.

  • You can contribute to simple data transformations and documentation with guidance.

  • You can validate outputs and raise quality concerns when something does not look right.

  • You use AI-enabled tools responsibly to support your work, without blindly trusting the results.

  • You start connecting business problems with reliable data solutions.

  • You show curiosity, ownership and willingness to learn from feedback.

Over time, you will grow towards owning small data products independently and contributing to AI-enabled data initiatives with increasing autonomy.

IMPORTANT NOTE

This is not a pure AI Engineer role.

This is an Analytics Engineer I role within Data Enablement, with an expectation that the person will progressively develop AI competencies as part of the natural evolution of Analytics Engineering.

We believe AI will increasingly become part of how data teams work, but the foundation remains the same: trusted data, strong engineering practices, business understanding and responsible delivery.
