Who this fits

This senior, hands-on leadership role suits someone who can bring structure to complex data work and coordinate business and SAP teams. The role is based in Dearborn, requires onsite work four or more days per week, and involves domestic travel up to ten percent. You must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable. The role is initially employed by Ford and is expected to move to its subsidiary within one year.

From the employer

In this position...
As the Data Migration and Master Data Lead, SAP, you will be accountable for successful data migration and master data readiness across Ford Energy’s SAP landscape. This includes SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud and SAP Private Cloud environments supporting Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and Yard Logistics (YL).

You will lead the planning, governance, validation, and execution of data loads—from defining requirements and coordinating data owners through conversion, reconciliation, and business sign-off. You will establish the processes and controls needed to ensure data is accurate, complete, consistent, and ready to support business operations at launch and beyond.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines SAP experience with exceptional attention to detail and a strong track record governing master data processes. You will work closely with business stakeholders, SAP functional and technical teams, and system integrator or vendor partners to make data migration a disciplined, measurable, and repeatable part of the SAP delivery lifecycle.

What you'll do...

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Migration Planning & Execution:

  • Own the end-to-end data migration approach across Ford Energy’s SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud and SAP Private Cloud environments.
  • Lead migration planning: Define data migration scope, objects, sequencing, dependencies, milestones, and readiness criteria across SAP programs and deployments.
  • Coordinate migration cycles: Plan and manage data collection, cleansing, mapping, transformation, mock loads, cutover loads, and post-load validation.
  • Manage data loads: Coordinate master data uploads into SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud and SAP Private Cloud for EWM and YL, working with SAP teams and implementation partners.
  • Maintain migration plans: Track owners, dependencies, open decisions, risks, defects, and readiness across migration activities.
  • Support cutover: Develop and coordinate migration and cutover runbooks, including load timing, validation checkpoints, issue escalation, and contingency planning.

2. Master Data Governance & Quality:

  • Establish the governance, standards, and controls required to maintain trusted master data throughout implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Define governance processes: Establish clear processes for data ownership, creation, maintenance, approval, and change control.
  • Set data standards: Define data definitions, templates, validation rules, naming conventions, and quality expectations for SAP master data.
  • Drive data readiness: Partner with business data owners to assess data quality, resolve gaps, and ensure data is complete and approved before each load.
  • Strengthen controls: Implement checks and approval steps that reduce duplication, inconsistent values, incomplete records, and unauthorized changes.
  • Promote sustainable practices: Help embed master data governance into business processes so data remains reliable after go-live.

3. Validation, Reconciliation & Issue Resolution:

  • Ensure migrated data is accurate and fit for use—not just successfully loaded.
  • Define validation criteria: Establish checks for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and business usability before and after data loads.
  • Reconcile results: Compare source and target data, investigate variances, and document reconciliation outcomes.
  • Manage migration defects: Log, prioritize, assign, and track data issues through resolution, retest, and closure.
  • Secure business sign-off: Coordinate validation with business process owners and obtain documented approval at appropriate migration milestones.
  • Report readiness: Provide clear status, risk, quality, and readiness reporting to SAP program leadership and business stakeholders.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Connect business data owners with SAP delivery teams so migration decisions are timely, understood, and actionable.
  • Partner with stakeholders: Work with business teams to identify authoritative data sources, assign data owners, and confirm business rules.
  • Coordinate across SAP teams: Align migration activities with functional, technical, integration, testing, and cutover workstreams.
  • Manage partner delivery: Coordinate data migration activities with system integrators and other vendors; clarify deliverables, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
  • Communicate effectively: Translate data quality and migration risks into clear actions for both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Build organizational capability: Provide guidance and practical support to teams responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining master data.

You'll have..
Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience: 5–8 years of experience in SAP data migration, master data management, data quality, or SAP implementation roles.
  • SAP Cloud Experience: Experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud or SAP Private Cloud is required.
  • Migration Delivery: Demonstrated experience planning and executing SAP data migration activities, including data mapping, cleansing, transformation, loading, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Master Data Governance: Experience establishing or operating master data ownership, approval, quality, and change-management processes.
  • SAP Landscape Knowledge: Ability to coordinate data readiness and migration across SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud and SAP Private Cloud environments supporting EWM and YL.
  • Attention to Detail: A disciplined, meticulous approach to data analysis, validation, documentation, and issue follow-through.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify root causes, assess business impact, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Communication: Ability to work effectively with business data owners, SAP delivery teams, leadership, and implementation partners.

Even better, you may have...
Preferred:

  • EWM or YL Experience: Experience supporting data migration or master data processes for SAP EWM, Yard Logistics, or related warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Data Migration Tools: Familiarity with SAP migration tools and approaches, data-load templates, and structured reconciliation methods.
  • Multi-Cloud SAP Delivery: Experience coordinating migration across a mixed SAP landscape that includes both public cloud and private cloud.
  • Cutover Readiness: Experience developing or executing SAP cutover plans and production data loads.
  • Manufacturing or Energy Exposure: Familiarity with manufacturing, energy, or other complex operational environments.
  • Startup Mindset: Comfort building data governance and migration processes in a growing organization while partnering with a larger corporate parent.

Key Attributes:

  • A detail-oriented, accountable data leader who brings structure to complex migration work. You are proactive about data risks, persistent in resolving quality issues, and skilled at building alignment among business owners, SAP teams, and delivery partners. You understand that successful data migration depends not only on a completed load, but on trusted data, clear ownership, and business validation.

  • Location: Dearborn, MI
