Who this fits

This role suits someone building an analytics engineering career who prioritizes reliable data and can align marketing, product, and engineering partners around tracking practices. It is remote and located in Boston.

From the employer

Here at Hometap, we’re collaborative, passionate, and always ready to roll up our sleeves to create solutions that help people get more out of homeownership — and out of life. Our first product, a home equity investment, gives homeowners the opportunity to quickly access the equity they’ve built in their home to pay for what’s most important to them, from handling debt to finally making much-needed renovations, without taking on debt.

We work hard, and have some fun along the way, too. You don’t have to take our word for it: The Boston Globe and Forbes have recognized us as a great place to work, and we’ve been honored for our commitment to innovation in the fintech space by Inc., HousingWire, and more!

In case you need any more convincing, we also provide competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, generous PTO, a meaningful equity package, and a strong culture with plenty of opportunities for team-building and camaraderie.

Interested in joining us on our mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible? We’d love to talk.

Who you are:

As a Digital Analytics Engineer, you'll own how Hometap captures and governs its product and marketing event data. Today we track roughly 200 product events, and you'll be the person who manages that ecosystem by owning the event taxonomy and tracking plan, to keep the data flowing into our downstream tools trustworthy. You'll sit on the data engineering and analytics team and work closely with marketing, product, and engineering - all of whom interact with this data to make decisions.

This is a role for someone early in their analytics engineering career who cares about data quality, can turn messy tracking into a clear system, and is comfortable partnering across teams to get instrumentation right.

What you'll do:

  • Audit the current Segment inventory, consolidate duplicates and naming drift, and establish a governed object-action naming convention
  • Build and maintain the tracking plan, keeping it to a navigable size, and deprecating events deliberately as the product changes.
  • Stand up enforcement so standards are gated
  • Configure and manage Segment Protocols for schema validation and violation handling, and manage the sources feeding downstream tools
  • Advise on our hybrid capture model with product and engineering; determine if events should be server-side, client-side, or both
  • Partner with marketing, product, and engineering on what gets tracked and what it means, and translate their requirements into well-formed event specs
  • Document tracking standards, interact with teams so they instrument consistently, and run a review process for proposing, approving, and deprecating events
  • Build automated monitoring for schema conformance, event volume, and property completeness that catches naming drift, type mutation, and alert on shift before it corrupts downstream metrics

What you bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Data Analytics, or similar role
  • Experience with Segment or a similar customer data platform. Familiarity with the broader analytics landscape like Amplitude, Mixpanel, PostHog, or GA4 is a plus
  • A solid grasp of event taxonomy and tracking-plan concepts, including object-action naming, controlled vocabularies, and property typing
  • SQL proficiency and comfort querying data in a cloud data warehouse
  • Working knowledge of JSON Schema and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD, and the instinct to treat tracking like code by wiring validation and tests into the pipeline
  • Ability to explain tracking standards clearly to marketing, product, and engineering partners and align non-technical stakeholders on why governance matters

The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000, depending on your experience, skills, location, and other factors. You’ll also receive meaningful equity, so you can share in our growth and success. We offer generous medical, dental, and vision coverage, a work-from-home stipend, parental leave, and plenty of paid time off to recharge.

Hometap is on a mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible. Our home equity investment product provides homeowners with a fast, simple, and straightforward way to access the equity in their home without taking out a loan or having to sell. By investing alongside homeowners, Hometap offers debt-free cash in exchange for a share of their home’s future value — all without any monthly payments over the life of the investment. Through a combination of financial innovation and best-in-class customer service, Hometap enables people to get more from homeownership so they can get more from life. Hometap believes that our differences are what bring us together, and one of our biggest priorities is creating a diverse workplace that welcomes and values each team member’s unique perspective, background, and ideas.
