Join KEYENCE as a Data Scientist
Location: Keyence U.S. Headquarters – Itasca, IL
Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): $111,122
What You'll Do
As a Data Scientist, you'll play a key role in mandating spanning analysis, AI agent creation, automation, tool building, and machine learning. This position is responsible for taking an ambiguous business problem, determining whether the right solution is analysis, automation, an AI agent, a data product, or a machine learning model, and then building and deploying a practical solution end to end.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to translate vague requests into well-defined problems and high value solutions.
- Design, build, and deploy automations, AI enabled tools, internal apps, and analytical solutions.
- Develop AI agents and LLM powered workflows with appropriate guardrails, evaluation, and observability.
- Perform exploratory and statistical analysis; design experiments and communicate findings clearly.
- Build reliable data pipelines and reusable tools with solid engineering practices (Git, testing, documentation, CI/CD).
- Own solutions from idea through deployment, adoption, and ongoing support.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar).
- 1-2 years of experience building and deploying data, automation, or AI solutions in a production setting.
- Strong Python and SQL skills with a track record of shipping practical data or AI solutions beyond prototypes.
- Experience automating business or technical processes and integrating with APIs and multiple data sources.
- Software development fundamentals: modular code, version control, testing, and documentation.
- Solid data analysis and visualization skills, with clear communication to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments and balance speed with reliability.
- Pragmatic problem solving: knows when a simple rules-based automation beats an ML model or LLM.
- LLM and AI agent development experience, including prompt design, tool calling, RAG, embeddings, and agent evaluation.
- Workflow orchestration (Airflow, Prefect, Power Automate), Docker, CI/CD, and cloud deployment.
- Internal web tools (FastAPI, Streamlit) and experience with process improvement or operational excellence.

- Base Salary: $65,160
- Bonus Target: $45,962 annually (performance-based), paid quarterly
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, ~4 weeks PTO in first full year
