What you'll do

What you bring

- At least five years managing data teams and projects, including stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering
- A record of delivering data platforms for large, complex systems and improving processes through automation
- Experience with data modeling, database design, integration, cloud analytics, pipeline deployment automation and data governance
- Hands-on experience building dashboards in Power BI and writing code or scripts to automate work
Who this fits
This is a people-management role for someone who can lead data specialists while overseeing complex projects and technical delivery. You must be a U.S. citizen and work onsite at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, on a Monday-through-Thursday four-day schedule that may change. A valid driver’s license and ability to obtain an HSPD-12 credential are required; pre-placement screening includes a physical exam and drug test, with random testing under the stated policy.

Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts and engineers
- Manage Resource planning across operational work and planned projects
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
- Data Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement data strategy
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehouses
- Data governance experience and exposure in the context of AI
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project scope and budget
- Technical Expertise
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data analytics and engineering.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with business leaders, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
- Ensure alignment between data initiatives and business goals.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Oversee the development of analytical models and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
- Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Five years or more of experience in managing data teams and data projects.
- Leading projects with stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, with a track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
- Proven track record of implementing data platforms for large and complex systems.
- Experience with implementing process improvements and automation.
- Experience with data modeling, database design, and data integration approaches.
- Experience with Data warehousing - Virtual data warehousing exposure is desired.
- Exposure to developing a Semantic Query layer is desired.
- Experience creating dashboards/visualizations in PowerBI.
- Experience writing script, code to automate processes.
- Experience with cloud-based data storage and analytics technologies.
- Experience with code and deployment automation for data pipelines.
- Experience with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
- Strong Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Exposure to one or more formal architecture frameworks and related modeling languages and notations.
- The primary work location will be at the Losee Road Facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Annual salary range for this position is: $126,984.00 - $203,174.40.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
