Who this fits

This role suits a client-facing senior consultant who can balance technical data work with regulatory and stakeholder needs. You’ll be based in Singapore and lead projects across Southeast Asia. Consulting experience and additional regional languages are advantages.

From the employer

Sia is a next-generation, global management consulting group. Founded in 1999, we were born digital. Today our strategy and management capabilities are augmented by data science, enhanced by creativity and driven by responsibility. We’re optimists for change and we help clients initiate, navigate and benefit from transformation. We believe optimism is a force multiplier, helping clients to mitigate downside and maximize opportunity. With expertise across a broad range of sectors and services, our 3,000 consultants serve clients worldwide from 48 locations in 19 countries. Our expertise delivers results. Our optimism transforms outcomes.

In 2024 we announced our exciting partnership with Blackstone as our first financial investor since inception to support our company’s continued growth. We have also been ranked by Vault as a Top 20 Consulting Firm to work for in the APAC region for 2025.

We are looking for a Senior Consultant with a focus on Data Governance and Management to be based in our Singapore office and to play a pivotal role in helping regional and multinational clients navigate the complexity of the "Smart Nation" initiative and evolving data privacy standards. You will serve as a strategic advisor, ensuring client data architectures are not only technically sound but also fully compliant with PDPA and regional cross-border data transfer requirements. You will lead high-stakes projects across Southeast Asia, driving data maturity for enterprise clients across industries, and you will be expected to balance technical implementation with a deep understanding of Singapore’s specific regulatory "sandboxes" and data residency requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regional Governance Frameworks: Architect and operationalize data governance models that align with the MAS Technology Risk Management (TRM) guidelines and the PDPC’s Advisory Guidelines, ensuring localized data sovereignty and accountability.
  • PDPA Compliance & Data Privacy: Lead the implementation of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and "privacy-by-design" workflows to ensure client platforms satisfy Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) requirements and international standards like APEC CBPR.
  • Enterprise Data Discovery & Lineage: Drive the identification and cataloguing of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) across hybrid-cloud environments, establishing end-to-end data lineage to support regional regulatory reporting and internal audit readiness.
  • Data Quality & Trusted Data Hubs: Design automated data quality monitoring and Master Data Management (MDM) solutions that support Singapore’s "Trusted Data Sharing" frameworks, enabling secure and high-quality data exchange between industry partners.
  • Cloud Data Transformation: Partner with engineering teams to oversee data governance during large-scale migrations to Singapore-based cloud regions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), ensuring data classification and access controls are maintained during the transition.
  • Stakeholder & Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary interface between technical data teams and client Risk/Compliance officers, facilitating workshops to translate complex MAS or IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) regulations into actionable data management policies.
  • Actively contribute to offer building, training, communities of practice, and R&D initiatives
  • Support business development (needs definition, proposals, opportunity identification)
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience working on Data Management and Governance or Data analyst
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
  • Proven experience in data management, governance, or related roles
  • Familiarity with data management topics, including master data management, metadata, reference data management, data cataloguing and lineage, data quality management, etc.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with a track record of developing and implementing data solutions to address business needs.
  • Experience with data management and governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data security principles and best practices, including encryption methods and access controls.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • English fluency. Additional regional languages is a plus (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Bahasa)
  • Prior experience working in consulting will be advantageous

This will be the right role for you if you like to:

  • Work on high-impact missions across a variety of sectors, leveraging data, AI and consulting to drive tangible outcomes
  • Be client-facing and have autonomy in your role
  • Be part of a dynamic, multi-cultural and fast-growing team
  • Grow your career with a company that is performance driven
