Role brief

dataroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Run KPI and dashboard work from initial scoping through delivery, maintenance, and governance
  • Work with stakeholders to set success measures for products and operations, then turn those into usable reporting
  • Partner with data engineering on maintainable pipelines that support dependable reporting
  • Investigate complex business questions and deliver findings leaders can use for strategic decisions
  • Spot reporting blind spots and create dashboards or analyses that improve coverage and data access

What you bring

  • At least five years in data analytics, business intelligence, or a comparable data-focused role
  • Strong SQL and hands-on work with Snowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse
  • Can turn unclear business questions into data solutions and work effectively with nontechnical partners
  • Can independently own reporting projects and build scalable, automated work rather than one-off analyses
  • Experience with a BI or visualization platform; dbt experience is preferred rather than required

Who this fits

This role suits a senior analyst who can work independently, make data accessible to stakeholders, and use AI agents to build analytics and check results. You must work from the New York City office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week.

From the employer

What you’ll be part of

Garner is on a mission to transform the U.S. healthcare system — and we’re the only proven player doing exactly that. We partner with employers to redesign how healthcare works: applying 550+ proprietary clinical metrics across 80+ specialties to a dataset of 320M+ patients to identify the best-performing doctors, then using compelling incentives to steer members to the care that helps them get healthier, faster.

The result is a rare “win win” — better care and lower costs for both members and employers. In just five years, our work has helped over 2.5 million people access higher-quality care and saved $1B in healthcare costs. We recently raised our Series E and have doubled five years running. If you've ever wanted your work to solve a problem that touches every person in this country, this is the opportunity to do exactly that. You'd be joining a team fundamentally reimagining healthcare in the U.S. — and using AI to scale that impact further and faster than anyone else can.

About the role:

We are seeking an exceptional AI-Native Data Analyst to join Garner and drive how data shapes business decisions at scale. You'll be the person the business trusts to turn fuzzy questions into the metrics, dashboards, and deep-dive analyses that decisions actually get made on — owning that work end-to-end.

Where you will work:

This role will be based in our New York City office (in the Financial District). You must be willing to work in the office 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

What you will do:

  • Own KPIs and dashboards end-to-end. Build, maintain, and govern key KPIs and dashboards across business domains, managing the full lifecycle of analytics projects from scoping to delivery.
  • Be a thought partner on measurement. Partner with stakeholders to define how success is measured across Garner's products and operations.
  • Build scalable data pipelines. Collaborate with the data engineering team to create maintainable pipelines that power reliable reporting.
  • Develop deep domain expertise. Build a strong understanding of your analytical domain so you can independently drive meaningful insights.
  • Close reporting gaps. Identify where coverage is missing and proactively develop new dashboards and insights to fill them.
  • Raise the bar on data practices. Advocate for best practices in visualization, documentation, metric consistency, and stakeholder communication across teams.
  • Answer high-stakes, ambiguous questions. Run deep-dive investigations into complex business problems — the kind of analysis leadership uses to make strategic calls.

The ideal candidate has:

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a similar data-centric role.
  • Cross-functional translation. Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into data-driven solutions and to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Autonomy and ownership. Comfortable working independently and owning reporting projects end-to-end.
  • Automation mindset. Attention to detail with a bias toward automation and scalability over one-off work.
  • AI Nativity. Comfort with and excitement about building analytics, building dashboards, and validating results by harnessing the power of AI agents.
  • Making data accessible. A track record of getting stakeholders trustworthy, self-serve access to the information they need. Experience with a BI/visualization tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar) helps — but the outcome matters more than the specific tool.
  • Modern data stack. Hands-on with Snowflake (or a comparable cloud warehouse) and SQL at scale; experience with dbt strongly preferred — you'll partner with Data Management in governed pipelines, not just consume their outputs.
  • A desire to be part of a high-performing, mission-driven team that operates with intense urgency, a strong sense of individual accountability, and a commitment to authentic feedback.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing company in a transformative role, helping shape the future of healthcare.

What you’ll get here:

You’ll work on problems that matter, at a company working to change healthcare at scale. You’ll work at the intersection of AI and systemic healthcare reform, where the problems we solve are as interesting and compelling as the mission.

At Garner, you’ll take on real, ambitious problems with real ownership and autonomy, alongside exceptional, principles-based people who genuinely want you to win. It’s demanding by design. You’ll be challenged to stretch beyond what you thought possible and receive consistent coaching to help you grow and do the best work of your career. This isn't the right fit for everyone, and that's intentional. The people here are driven by what's at stake for real people, and that's what gives our intensity its purpose.
