What you'll do
- Build and maintain Cognos front ends for BI, including solutions that support users’ reporting and analysis needs
- Gather business requirements, shape them into BI designs, and lead project coordination
- Train business users and explain BI capabilities to help them use available solutions
- Coordinate support and project work with BI colleagues, offshore teams, IT staff and business leaders
- Estimate front-end development effort and help surface project risks and issues
What you bring
- A four-year degree in computer science, information systems or a related discipline
- Six to eight years of relevant work, including software programming or business analysis
- At least three years developing BI applications, including two years working with Cognos
- Strong SQL, plus Cognos development with Framework Manager, Report Studio and Transformer
- You can gather and document business needs, present solutions to senior leaders, and communicate clearly in writing and conversation

Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Lead Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing and developing Business Intelligence (BI) front-end solutions. The position is also responsible for requirements gathering, project management, constructing functional designs, communicating with team members and business stakeholders, and supporting existing business intelligence applications.
People or Process Management Responsibility: Works on multiple, complex projects as a project leader and a subject matter expert.
Required Skills and Experience:
4 year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or in a related discipline
6 to 8 years of relevant work experience, particularly as a software programmer or business analystAt least 3 years of BI application development experience
At least 2 years Cognos experience, with excellent Cognos development skills, specifically around Framework Manager, Report Studio, Transformer
Excellent SQL skills
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong presentation skills including the ability to interact with top-level business leaders
Must exemplify leadership and salesmanship qualities to promote BI solutions throughout the organization
Strong competence in gathering and documenting business requirements, defining optimal BI solutions to business problems
Strong understanding of SDLC best practices with an emphasis on DW/BI practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience with Cognos SDK, Cognos Metrics Studio, Cognos Event Studio
Experience creating visually appealing reports for executive leadership and/or external clients
Experience with Javascript
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Design, develop and support of front-end solutions in Cognos.
Responsible for requirements gathering and project management of BI projects.
Provide Cognos training to business users.
Promote BI solutions/capabilities to the business user community.
Interact with other BI team members, offshore team members, and cross-IT staff on support and project activities.
Interact with business users and business leadership to provide solutions to their reporting and analytical needs.
Assist with task identification and effort estimates for front-end development.
Assist with risk and issue identification.
